WOSB<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>With over 40 years of government contract law experience and knowledge, the attorneys at Malyszek &amp; Malyszek will help you understand the regulations of SDVO and WOSB programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) is a small business owned by a veteran with a service-related disability as defined by the Department of Veteran\u2019s Affairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Veterans Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development Act of 1999 established an annual government-wide goal of not less than 3% of the total value of all prime contract and subcontract awards for participation by small business concerns owned and controlled by service-disabled veterans.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In December of 2003, the Veterans Benefits Act of 2003 was passed by Congress. Section 308 of the Act established a procurement program for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concerns (SDVOSBC). This procurement program provides that federal contracting officers may restrict competition to SDVOSBC\u2019s and award a sole source or set-aside contract where certain standards are met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Small Business Administration (SBA) has issued a provisional final rule, establishing a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concern Program. This program establishes the principles to be used in federal contracting to determine business ownership and control requirements, guidelines for establishing sole source and set-aside procurement opportunities, service-disabled veteran status, and protest and appeal procedures for SDVOSBC procurements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The purpose of the Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business Concern Procurement Program is to provide procuring agencies with the authority to set acquisitions aside for exclusive competition among service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns, as well as the authority to make sole source awards to service-disabled veteran-owned small business concerns if certain conditions are met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Women-Owned Small Business (WOSB) is a small business that is at least 51% owned by a woman or women as defined by FAR 19.001, including economically disadvantaged women owned small businesses (EDWOSB). This service is designed for any woman-owned small business who needs an expert to prepare all aspects of their SBA 8(m) WOSB or EDWOSB Application.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nearly a decade in the making, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Women-Owned Small Business Program (WOSB), also referred to as 8(m), will allow federal agencies to set aside contracts specifically for WOSB\u2019s. The final rule, &#8220;The Women-Owned Small Business Federal Contract Assistance Procedures\u201d, was published in the Federal Register on October 7th and established some provisions for the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The SBA&#8217;s WOSB Federal Contract Program will provide better access to federal contracting opportunities for WOSB\u2019s and economically-disadvantaged women-owned small businesses (EDWOSB\u2019s).
